A Local Credit Union That Cares

Checking Account

These days, a checking account with a debit card and online access is a fundamental part of convenient banking. That's why Wailuku Federal Credit Union offers checking accounts with debit cards for ATM cash withdrawals and point-of-sale purchases, along with a free first batch of checks. You may use your debit card to do cash withdrawals at the ATM that is located at our branch or any American Savings Bank ATM without incurring a surcharge. A surcharge is a fee that the ATM owner charges a non-customer cardholder for using their machine.

In addition, following are the many great features that our checking account offers:

  • $50 minimum opening deposit (no minimum balance thereafter).
  • No monthly service maintenance fee.
  • Pays dividends which are equivalent to interest you usually only earn on savings accounts.
  • Manage your account online.
  • Zelle® P2P service.
  • Mobile Wallet - Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.
  • $20.00/month in ATM reimbursement fees when enrolled in electronic statement and current on loan payments.
  • Free Bill Payment which eliminates the need to write and mail check payments.
  • Overdraft Protection to avoid costly fees.
  • Remote Deposit Capture allows you to make a check deposit by taking a picture of the check with your mobile phone.
  • Direct deposit your monthly paycheck, social security benefit or other recurring deposits that my be deposited electronically.
  • Order checks online at

If you’re looking for a checking account with no minimum balance that pays dividends (similar to interest) and offers much more, we have the account for you. If you currently have your checking account elsewhere, you may find the Switch Kit to be helpful in transferring your account to us.

I have been doing business with Wailuku Federal Credit Union for 11 years now. Walking into the branch feels like stepping into one of my family member’s home. I’m always greeted by a friendly face such as the team members Alyssa, Kellie, and Brandi just to name a few. Mahalo Wailuku FCU for treating me like family.
